Spring With The Bloomers

Perhaps a better title would be "May with the Bloomers". That would then be defined as one great big rush.

Amelia started walking on May 7. She turned 11 months on May 10. She'd been standing on her own for at least a couple of weeks. This time, she was holding a pair of her pants in both hands. This provided a steadying effect, so she just took off, 4 steps, then 4 more, over to her sippy cup. I'm glad that both Paul and I were there to see it together.

Everybody says, "Oh now she'll really start getting into things." Not really - she was already into everything. Now she just gets there faster. Soon she'll be running.

May is a big rush for us because of the end of the school year. There's high school award banquets for everything. There's the jazz band dessert reception. There's choir and band performances. It seems there's something every night of the week. We still have graduation (the band plays) and the Memorial Day parade to go!

We were so busy in the evening, I had to buy a car during the day! Paul and I picked up a 2006 Ford Focus, stick shift, 4 door, for running to work. When we get brave enough, we'll teach Kristen how to drive a manual. It might take a while before that happens.

I tried something new with the electronic scrapbook. I inserted videos of the kids' performances and Amelia walking (that's a performance too). They only play if you hit the button on top of the video (I think). Enjoy!

Spring Time Fun

Spring has sprung! Already the flowers that you see in the slideshow below are wilted and gone. New ones have popped up in their place, but such is life in the spring.

Miss Amelia is getting closer and closer to walking. Whether it's a kitchen chair, a bucket, her stroller, or your fingers, she grabs a hold and pushes her way to where she wants to go. I've caught her trying to take independent steps, but all she can manage is one. For now...

A big part of the slideshow is devoted to the three babies born born within two months to three moms who work within a few feet of each other. There's rumors about it being in the water in our building. We got together on April 25th at the barn for a rural photo shoot. All three babes got to sit on Shiloh, Ken's now 20 year old Paint. (How did that happen? I remember her as a weanling!) Amelia is the youngest (6-10-09) and is completely relaxed at the barn. Charlie (5-18-09) wasn't so sure about the whole thing. Cara (4-13-09) was doing well until the dogs got too close to the cat and the cat whacked Cara in the back of the head.

Connor and Catie, Cara's older brother and sister, got to ride Shiloh for a while in the arena. Once the rain stopped, Mr. Ken took them out to run the John Deere. He only let them control the bucket, not the wheels.

Enjoy the photos and let me know if you want a copy of any of the pictures for yourself.
